Where would Dar Kush be located in Real-Life?

In the world of Lion’s Blood, the province of New Djibouti is made up of southern Texas, most of Louisiana, Central-South Mississippi and Alabama. It also appears to include a portion of Western Florida and Georgia. Within New Djibouti, most of the events that occur in the book is in a plantation called Dar Kush. A cartographic illustration is provided in both novels that show its location near Lake A’zam (1).

With the help of Google Maps, Dar Kush can be seen to be located within Sam Houston National Forest. The plantation is located in a heavily wooded area that lacks any major road until many miles up north. The actual name of the lake is Lake Conroe and there is currently at least one road that connects one side to the other (2).
